Sushi outlet north of downtown: Wataru.
Have seen this place for a few years when driving by and finally decided to visit after a recommendation from the chef of the adjoining Salare restaurant.
This is a small place with a classic sushi bar and table seating for about 20 people. The menu is typical of sushi establishments in Tokyo and hence the name edomae style sushi. They have a good selection of sushi (with shiso leaf) which was all very fresh and well presented. We had our typical selection….saba, unagi, and hamachi……but with the Nuta (raw fish with seaweed and a sweet miso vinaigrette) rather than the more typical seaweed salad.
Nice intimate spot for late night sushi. I’d recommend reservations well in advance if you want an early table.
