Gelato fix that opened this summer: Umaluma.
Local knowledge wins again……you’d not know of this place unless you happened upon it while walking east on Pender in Chinatown and stumbled in not knowing what you were stumbling into.
All organic ingredients are used and the the gelato is dairy free….it’s made from a cashew based nut butter with coconut or hemp seed milk but you would never know it unless you asked. Multiple choices for flavors…various chocolate offerings, salted caramel, coffee toffee and vanilla to name a few. Affogatos are offered as well. Give the drunken cherry a try….bourbon soaked Amarena cherries…very tasty.
