Is it really in a tree? Tree House Cafe.
No…..it’s not up in a tree but the space surrounds a very large plum tree nonetheless. Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner…..if the weather is nice since it’s mostly open air seating.
We had both breakfast and lunch here and both meals were very good.
For breakfast they have the usual suspects….of the farmer’s size portions..so it’s a hearty experience. My choice was the Tree House which arrived with 2 beautiful farm fresh eggs sunny side up with maple sausage, potatoes and thick sliced seed toast. Perfect for the day after a long bike ride!
For lunch my choice was the lamb burger which was very good although the lamb was apparently not local to the Island…..from the Fraser Valley. The apricot chutney was a perfect topping and really made the burger. As mentioned, I think it was the best of the two examples I tasted on this visit. The side spinach salad was fresh and the orange poppy seed dressing was very good.
We had the Garry Owens Pinot Noir….from local fruit…was the best example that we tried on the Island but not up to Burrowing Owl from the Okanagan.
They have live music for dinner during the summer and it was very crowded when we walked by one afternoon so I’d get there early if music with dinner is of interest to you.
Service was good at breakfast and quite slow at lunch. Not sure why the difference. Wait staff perhaps?
