Dinner for 20: Top of the Market.
Back in SD for a meeting and this was the choice for the group. I always hesitate a bit in reviewing spots where the experience is fixed……I’m not ordering from the main menu. That was the case this visit so take that into consideration.
The views of San Diego Bay from the dining area may be worth the visit even if only to have a drink at the bar. The menu leans heavily to seafood which isn’t surprising considering the location.
I was a bit disappointed to see salmon from Scotland and scallops from the East Coast….on the West Coast and so very close to the PNW! So, that seemed odd and I couldn’t bring myself to go with the offered seafood choices and went with the beer braised beef short ribs. They were rich and good.
The selected dessert option was Key Lime pie which was quite good if a bit on the very sweet rather than tart side. A bit better balance would have made it more flavorful. The color was true to the fruit…pale yellow… and not the sometimes food color added lime green….always a sign in my mind of less than an authentic offering.
Service was good.
