German food in Norway: Tizley’s Europub.
What?…yep even though the town was founded by a Norwegian and has a Scandinavian theme this place has pretty authentic German cuisine. Perfect spot for a quick bite with dining on the heated patio upstairs which was just the right call on this cold day.
Standouts: the beet salad and the currywurst. My choice was the Jagerschnitzel with mushroom gravy, spätzel and rotkohl. The gravy and schnitzel were the best of the dish with the spätzel also authentic. I was a bit disappointed with the cabbage…not the typical savory/sweet flavors I’m use to.
Service was very good.
While you’re in town, check out Nordiska across the street for Nomes of every description and you must take home some Lakrids. If you don’t know them and like licorice, you gotta give them a try. Outstanding!
A stroll in the waterfront park is a great way to end your visit.
