Finally: Taylor Farms Samish Oyster Bar.
It’s the holy grail of shellfish farms in Western Washington and because it’s so popular…it requires perseverance to get a seat at the table. Got there about an hour before they opened which made scoring a place to enjoy the dine in menu possible. This family has been in the shellfish business since 1890 so you know they know their stuff!
The immediate surroundings are like eating in an active seafood farm…which is the case. Distant views are spectacular with the Olympic mountains and the San Juan Islands on the Western horizon.
Expect all things shellfish including fresh Dungeness crab, multiple types of oysters, mussels…both live and steamed as well as smoked seafood and canned sardines to go. They even have bling for those who want a hat or shirt to remember the experience. Need shucking gloves? They got’em.
Very helpful and pleasant staff.
A closer option, without the spectacular views, is their Capitol Hill location. There are also several other locations in the Seattle metro area.
