Comes highly rated….by an Argentinian: Tanta.
Large group dinner so the choices were broad with only a taste of many examples from the menu. It’s Peruvian which is an interesting blend of Spanish, Japanese and native South American cuisine. Think seafood…all the way from sushi “like” to fried and everything in between.
Before we get to the food choices, you must have a pisco sour…the national drink of Peru and well done here. Now on to the food selections….
Started with several appetizers…the seafood ceviche tasting..one of tuna with avocado, the second of fish, scallops and shrimp and the third of fresh fish and vegetables. All light and tasty. We then had 2 octopus dishes…one grilled on a bed of mashed potatoes with chimichurri and the second…sashimi like….very thinly sliced octopus, fish and fried capers in leche de tigre. The nod definitely goes to the latter.
For the main, I stayed away from the pork belly…I did have a taste and it was good….and went with the fried mixed seafood…served with very thinly sliced plantain. A bit heavy overall but very good.
Because we had a large table a wide selection of desserts were had…my choice was the shortbread cookies with lucuma ice cream which was very light and a perfect end to the meal.
The red wine was a Chilean single varietal of carménère. Tannins were dominant.
Overall a very unique and flavorful experience.
