Always a good stop for breakfast: Portage Bay Cafe.

One of four restaurants in the Seattle metro area that all offer local, organic food which is always good with excellent service. The location on 65th is one of the newer outlets and did not disappoint. The space is large and open and for that reason, is a bit on the noisy side. On weekends it’s best to arrive before 9 or 9:30 am if you want to miss the crowds.

With any of the pancake options you get a free trip to the fruit/condiments bar which should not be missed: strawberries, blueberries, huckleberries and mounds of whipped cream!

This trip we had pancakes, including the special which consisted of apples and caramel sauce, and the crab omelette……..unbelievable!

They also serve lunch.
