One more dinner for the masses: Piccolo Lago.
Located near Stresa on Lago Mergozzo it’s a venue to definitely consider for a large group. The chef has two-Michelin-stars but it is always a tough call when there is a fixed menu for a large group like this. That said, the food was, overall, the best of all the dinners for 100 this trip.
Highlights were the “open” cheese and charcuterie bars served alfresco on the lake…which included a blue cheese that was to die for. The picture really doesn’t do it justice….it was remarkably creamy and very smooth on the palate for a blue. I could have eaten the whole wheel! For dinner, the pasta dish with a guinea ragout and the Piedmont beef were perfectly prepared.
The red wine offered was a typical Dolcetto d’Alba.
