Have wondered about this place for years: Naches Tavern.

Apparently it’s been there for more than a century…I’m a bit slow on the visit. This experience was for a post ride lunch after a ride up to Sunrise on Mount Rainier. Quite a place…biker bar on the inside and out with with plenty of beer to choose from. They had BBQ pork the day we visited so I had to give that a taste test and went for the pork platter.

Where does it rank on my BBQ scale? Well the sauce was correct…tomato based and sweet, the meat was pork…correct and the execution was just ok. The meat was a bit on the dry side for my taste and apparently from the tenderloin. That may have been the problem since the ideal cut is from a shoulder or butt since they have more fat content and can be “pulled”. The baked beans and potato salad were very good. No issues with the beer…after all it’s a biker tavern!

Be prepared…it is usually packed with people and the parking can be a challenge.

Service was very friendly.
