Classic Italian: La Famiglia.
Small group dinner in this well known Philly establishment which did not disappoint.
First task was to choose a wine…the list is quite extensive…the largest I have seen with over 14,000 bottles in cellar and with prices up to $14,000. We were on a budget so that choice from 1946 was off the list so I called for the sommelier who was quite helpful and kept us on budget!
Very typical Italian fare and I started with the octopus which was tender and nicely presented in a tomato based sauce. I followed with the recommended penne alla famiglia…the house pasta….which was equally solid.
We ended with a smorgasbord of desserts….essentially one example of each…which were all good but quite similar in taste.
So, if you are in the old city and are craving Italian this place won’t disappoint.
Service was excellent.
