Group dinner: La Cocina Oaxaqueña.
Dinner for about a dozen but we ordered from the standard menu so I feel more confident in my impressions. It’s a relatively small place on Capitol Hill that receives positive reviews in the local media…..and I think it lived up to that reputation on my visit.
My usual go to when assessing Mexican cuisine is mole. So, chicken mole was my choice and it was very good. The accompanying rice, on which is was served, was a bit “wet”. Not sure why that was the case but it did detract some from the dish. It would also have been nice to have had some black beans as a side but the tortillas that did come that way, were very good.
Service was good. In nice weather, there is an outdoor area in front of the restaurant.
