Sushi anyone? Dave’s Sushi.
This is the best known place for raw fish in the city.
Busy place almost any night which is always a good sign. Very extensive selection of Maki and a good selection of Nigiri.
The veggie tempura was not classic and the batter was mostly not of the correct texture and little remained on the vegetables. The flavor was fine but it was just a bit off overall. Their Thai Lettuce wraps were again not classic…the chicken was fried in a stick shape. It seems their non sushi leans a bit more toward Japanese fusion rather than the more classic.Â
Choice of rolls include the salmon skin….called a Philly Skin for some reason, the Ahi Sunrise and Christmas Showers…pictured with very red roe…actually smelt…which added an unexpected spiciness due to it being presoaked in habanero. For sushi always give saba, hamachi, tobiko with egg and unagi a try. It was all very good and classic.Â
Service was good.
