Sushi anyone? Dave’s Sushi.
We visited a few years ago so expect an update in the future but this is the best known place for raw fish in the city. From a previous Facebook post in 2016:
Very busy place for a Monday night which is a good sign. They will place you on the waitlist if you call ahead. Very extensive selection of Maki and a good selection of Nigiri.
On a more recent visit, we had a broader selection of their offerings. The veggie tempura was not classic and the batter was mostly not of the correct texture and little remained on the vegetables. The flavor was fine but it was just a bit off overall. Their Thai Lettuce wraps were again not classic….the chicken was fried in a stick shape. It seems their non sushi leans a bit more toward Japanese fusion rather than the more classic. While I didn’t taste the Thai Curry Bowl, it smelled delicious.
Our choice of rolls included the salmon skin…..called a Philly Skin for some reason, the Ahi Sunrise and Christmas Showers…pictured with very red roe….actually smelt….which added an unexpected spiciness due to it being presoaked in habanero. For sushi we had saba, hamachi, tobiko with egg and unagi. It was all very good and classic.Â
Service was good.
