Comfort food in the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver: Burgoo Bistro
One of four by the same name in Vancouver that cater to comfort foods which was perfect for this cold and snowy day.
The space is cozy which matches perfectly with the menu offerings. This visit we started with a rum and eggnog as well as hot spiced rum apple cider. For mains had the Kentucky Burgoo (like Brunswick Stew…with lamb, beef and smoked ham with lima beans, corn and okra), 4 cheese toast and a turkey sandwich both with kale and quinoa salads. The Burgoo was paired with a very nice BC Merlot….tannins galore! Finished with a sampling of desserts: the sticky toffee pudding (think spice cake) and a classic apple crumble with caramel, both alamode. Interesting late harvest chardonnay to finish.
The place is relatively small and can be busy.
