Never disappoints: Highlands Bar and Grill.
The service is impeccable and the food cannot be beat. Best described as Southern French fusion with typical Southern fare married with, sometimes unusual Continental cuisine. The sweetbreads pictured are an example…..melt in your mouth with incredible flavors! Great wine selection which is mostly focused on selections from Europe, especially France and the Bordeaux region. Â The space is perfect for a business lunch or romantic getaway.
This visit various courses were had with a beautiful seared foie gras biscuit, lamb, red snapper and veal sweetbreads. Our host brought a 1986 Bordeaux and Burgundy….unbelievable! Finished with a chocolate dacquoise for dessert.
On another visit, following Frank Stitt being named the James Beard Best Chef in the US for 2018, we dined with a large group that allowed a larger appreciation of his offerings. Once again they were all outstanding but highlights were the crab claws and ginger sauce, triggerfish and the seafood stew which arrived an a bed of McEwen & Sons white grits….simply amazing. This is one of those places where you can’t go wrong. For desserts a shout out this visit goes to the satsuma cake.
