Brewpub in B’ham: Aslan Brewing Co.
For my Alabama followers, no this isn’t in Birmingham…Bellingham instead…which my PNW followers will immediately recognize.
I’ve been here several times and their specialty is obviously beer. Expect food to go along with the beer options…with a few ciders thrown in as well. Give the cherry hard cider a try…excellent!
With respect to their food, one unique twist to the usual pub fare are their rice bowls…interesting. Best of the bowls…so far…the Hawaiian with Pork Belly. Outstanding! Otherwise expect burgers, sandwiches and fries. The poutine is huge so don’t have it as a side with your Bison Burger unless you are starving! It could have also used a bit more salt to bring out the flavors of the gravy.
Service is friendly. It can be busy on a weekend night so come prepared to wait for a table or go with a reservation. The inside space is open and airy and they have an outdoor area which is nice when the weather cooperates.
There is a Seattle location which I need to try.
