Looking for a bite after the tulip fields: The Oyster and Thistle.
Located a bit off the beaten path on the Sound, there are a number of options in the area to check out before or after you visit the beautiful daffodil and tulip fields of the Skagit Valley. We visited this place before when it was under another name. The space is relaxing…..like being in your own home. If you are looking for happy hour the bar is downstairs, small and cozy.
The must have here are the oysters….raw or fried…in a sandwich or in your pasta. The mignonette granita isn’t to be missed…..I could have made a meal out of this sans oysters! If you must, they come with an excellent side of cocktail sauce sprinkled with fresh horseradish.
Also shared was the Caesar salad…with anchovies….is there another way? The second share was the prawn puttanesca…..spicy and excellent and of course the pasta is house made. Finished with the molten chocolate cake which was as expected and if you don’t feel up to dessert…..concentrate upfront on the oysters.
The service was excellent.
