Great dinner, as always: Pair.
One of our go to restaurants in Seattle because it never ever disappoints. It’s all about small plates, with a French flair, which are always outstanding. You can’t go wrong here so try several….maybe the whole menu.
Must haves include the moules frites, brussel sprouts, seared scallops and the coffee chocolate pots de creme… the best of this dessert to be found in my opinion. The bread pudding is also worth a try.
The menu changes from time to time and on a subsequent recent visit we had the beef brisket with horseradish créme fraiche and the pan roasted cauliflower. Both were excellent. The créme fraiche made the beef dish and the cauliflower was raised to great heights by the caramelized cantaloupe vinaigrette. On another visit we tried the smoked lamb with BBQ sauce delivered on a bed of pan fried cornbread…..truly outstanding in a place that has many examples of outstanding food. If it’s on the menu, you need to try this dish.
Another visit highlight was a variation of their roasted cauliflower….this time with crispy prosciutto…thought they couldn’t top the original but they did!
They have a great wines by the glass menu with a good selection of French wines, dessert wines and Ports.
The space is relatively small and they don’t take reservations for small parties so arrive early for happy hour or be willing to wait for a table……and have a glass of wine while you wait. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays so keep that in mind if you decide to visit.
They have a companion restaurant a few blocks down the street (Frank’s) with a different vibe, a large bar area for dining, and a menu that leans more new American/seafood but it’s also worth a stop if you don’t want to wait for a table at Pair.
Service is always excellent.
