In town for a bike ride and this was the pre ride pasta feed: Da Vinci’s Ristorante.
Looking for a place close to my hotel for the pasta load and this was the pick. Located in a small mall and a bit hard to find. From the outside it doesn’t look very inviting but the space inside is small and cozy. Includes a separate bar area as well.
The menu is fairly typical but I went first with the special appetizer of the day……a very nice ceviche of shrimp and octopus. Very well done with a nice tart flavor and the highlight of the meal. Followed this with my typical pasta main….pappardelle with ragú alla bolognese….typical veal and pork with bone marrow. One new flavor….shaved dark chocolate on top which arrived this night as what appeared to be a few small dark chocolate chips. I’ve never had this dish served this way but do understand that many bolognese sauces call for chocolate in the sauce. I have to admit, I don’t think this presentation added much to the dish. Portions were large. The side of haricot verts was disappointing….without any flavor.
Although not tried, the veal ossobuco looked amazing.
No room for dessert.
Service was very good.
